Kerry was born and raised in a small town in Texas to an Ecuadorian mother and a father with Alsatian and British ancestry. She began writing horror stories and poetry in elementary school. At 13, she was awarded with the West Texas Writers Association prize in poetry.
She studied creative writing under the tutelage of Albert Goldbarth and James Lee Burke and spent years working as a literary agent's assistant at William Morris/Endeavor and The Brandt Agency.
Her first feature-length screenplay, "Seasons Cycles", was a finalist at The Nicholl Fellowships and the Sundance Filmmakers Lab. She was represented by renown manager Cathryn Jaymes (other clients included Quentin Tarantino, Roger Avary, and Mark Dacascos).
Her teleplay, "American Standard" - a multi-family chronicle co-written with Scott Burgin and David Robinson -was a finalist in the 3rd Annual Slamdance Teleplay Competition.
At LA's Globe Theatre, she directed the cult-comedy stage hit, "Peace for Pot", hailed by Backstage West for its "imaginative direction", and also directed the comedy "Deflowered" to sold out audiences at The Improv Olympic. She was also recruited to direct for LA's Hero Theatre for a comedic piece entitled "Anns" written by Annie Weisman ("Physical," "About A Boy").
Her career in television production began with the conception of a travel-food-history show that was picked up by Food Network called "The Secret Life Of..." It garnered the highest ratings in the history of Scripps networks at the time and went on to enjoy a successful five seasons.
After producing and show running the" Secret Life Of...", she went on to write and produce for History Channel, Discovery, Netflix, Disney +, BBC Television, Nat Geo, The Cooking Channel, The Weather Channel, and more.
She continues to work in non-fiction production, primarily in development and as an executive producer.
